Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. Psalm 139:16
The course of my life is in your power; My future is in your hands. Psalm 31:15
Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. Psalm 119:109
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Have confidence in the Lord with all thy heart, and lean not upon thy own prudence. Proverbs 3:5-6
Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.” John 13:7
God’s Works Remain Forever
What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden that God has laid upon the sons of men to occupy them. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and do good while they live, and also that every man should eat and drink and find satisfaction in all his labor—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it or taken from it. God does it so that they should fear Him. What exists has already been, and what will be has already been, for God will call to account what has passed. Eccs 3:9-15
