Devotion of the Day

I know that thou canst do every thing. The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. He doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? There is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee.
Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. The mighty God. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed, ... there be more with us than with him.

Thoughts and sentiments:

I was dismayed by what i had posted earlier from what i read from Saint's Augustine's City of God --

"There is, then, a wicked mediator, who separates friends, and a good Mediator, who reconciles enemies. And those who separate are numerous, because the multitude of the blessed are blessed only by their participation in the one God; of which participation the evil angels being deprived, they are wretched, and interpose to hinder rather than to help to this blessedness, and by their very number prevent us from reaching that one beatific good, to obtain which we need not many but one Mediator, the uncreated Word of God, by whom all things were made, and in partaking of whom we are blessed."

I thought to myself that our enemies are too numerous for us to overcome, that im juz being pulled back all the time unceasingly, never able to break free. In our struggle with the evil one in our lifetime, which the evil one seeks to steal and destroy, prowling like a lion around us waiting for a perfect moment to strike, we need to know that Our Lord is sovereign and He is greater than "him". If God be for us, who can be against us? And our Lord who has overcome will be able to deliver us. And He who has started His work shall not abandon it till it is finished. Our Good Shepherd will never abandon his sheep. He will go all the way out to look for it, bring it back to the flock, and hold a feast to celebrate his return.

I was comforted and again reminded of the sovereignty of our Lord, for i have been deceived into believing that "his" number is too much and im powerless against him. But with my Lord at my side with His multitude of blessed hosts, He has the power, He has the victory and He shall grant me the victory over my enemy. With the Lord by my side i shall not fear. He is my fortress and my shield and my salvation.
