"Live for the sea"

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish." Luke 5:4

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Hab 2:14

Father, I don't ask you to take my followers out of the world, but keep them safe from the evil one. John 17:15

The Great Commission
(Matthew 28:16-20)
14Later as they were eating, Jesus appeared to the eleven and rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

15And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17And these signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18they will pick up snakes with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”

The Ascension
(Luke 24:50-53; Acts 1:6-11)

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked through them, confirming His word by the signs that accompanied it.

Jesus replied, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

 Isaiah 49

You are My Servant

1Listen to me, O islands,

and pay attention, O distant peoples:

The LORD called me from the womb;

from the body of my mother He named me.

2He made my mouth like a sharp sword;

He hid me in the shadow of His hand.

He made me like a polished arrow;

He hid me in His quiver.

3He said to me, “You are My servant, Israel,

in whom I will display My glory.”

4But I said, “I have labored in vain,

I have spent my strength in futility and vanity;

yet my vindication is with the LORD,

and my reward is with my God.”

5And now says the LORD,

who formed me from the womb to be His Servant,

to bring Jacob back to Him,

that Israel might be gathered to Him—

for I am honored in the sight of the LORD,

and my God is my strength—

6He says, “It is not enough for you to be My Servant,

to raise up the tribes of Jacob,

and to restore the protected ones of Israel.

I will also make you a light for the nations,

to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.”

7Thus says the LORD,

the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel,

to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation,

to the servant of rulers:

“Kings will see you and rise,

and princes will bow down,

because of the LORD, who is faithful,

the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

8This is what the LORD says:

“In the time of favor I will answer you,

and in the day of salvation I will help you;

I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people,

to restore the land,

to apportion its desolate inheritances,

9to say to the prisoners, ‘Come out,’

and to those in darkness, ‘Show yourselves.’

They will feed along the pathways,

and find pasture on every barren hill.

10They will not hunger or thirst,

nor will the scorching heat or sun strike them.

For He who has compassion on them will guide them

and lead them beside springs of water.

11I will turn all My mountains into roads,

and My highways will be raised up.

12Behold, they will come from far away,

from the north and from the west,a

and from the land of Aswan.b

13Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth;

break into joyful song, O mountains!

For the LORD has comforted His people,

and He will have compassion on His afflicted ones.

14But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me;

the Lord has forgotten me!”

15“Can a woman forget her nursing child,

or lack compassion for the son of her womb?

Though she may forget,

I will not forget you!

16Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;

your walls are ever before Me.

17Your buildersc hasten back;

those who laid you waste will depart.

18Lift up your eyes and look around.

They all gather together; they come to you.

As surely as I live,

declares the LORD,

you will wear them all as jewelry

and put them on like a bride.

19For your ruined and desolate places

and your ravaged land

will now indeed be too small for your people,

and those who devoured you will be far away.

20Yet the children of your bereavement

will say in your hearing,

‘This place is too small for us;

make room for us to live here.’

21Then you will say in your heart,

‘Who has begotten these for me?

I was bereaved and barren;

I was exiled and rejected.

So who has reared them?

Look, I was left all alone,

so where did they come from?’”

22This is what the Lord GOD says:

“Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations,

and raise My banner to the peoples.

They will bring your sons in their armsd

and carry your daughters on their shoulders.

23Kings will be your foster fathers,

and their queens your nursing mothers.

They will bow to you facedown

and lick the dust at your feet.

Then you will know that I am the LORD;

those who hope in Me will never be put to shame.”

24Can the plunder be snatched from the mighty,

or the captives of a tyrante be delivered?

25Indeed, this is what the LORD says:

“Even the captives of the mighty will be taken away,

and the plunder of a tyrant will be retrieved;

I will contend with those who contend with you,

and I will save your children.

26I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh,

and they will be drunk on their own blood, as with sweet wine.

Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD,

am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

And the LORD asked Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh and say, 'Can I really bear a child when I am old?'
Genesis 18:13

Then Sarah said, “God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears of this will laugh with me.” She added, “Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
Genesis 21:6-7

Isa 57
Comfort for the Contrite

14And it will be said:

“Build up, build up, prepare the road!

Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.”

15For this is what the high and exalted One says—

he who lives forever, whose name is holy:

“I live in a high and holy place,

but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,

to revive the spirit of the lowly

and to revive the heart of the contrite.

16I will not accuse them forever,

nor will I always be angry,

for then they would faint away because of me—

the very people I have created.

17I was enraged by their sinful greed;

I punished them, and hid my face in anger,

yet they kept on in their willful ways.

18I have seen their ways, but I will heal them;

I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s mourners,

19creating praise on their lips.

Peace, peace, to those far and near,”

says the Lord. “And I will heal them.”

20But the wicked are like the tossing sea,

which cannot rest,

whose waves cast up mire and mud.

21“There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

Isaiah 53 1Who has believed our message? To whom has the Lord revealed his powerful arm? 2 My servant grew up in the Lord’s presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him.3 He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.

4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. 6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

7 He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. 8 Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. 9 He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man’s grave.

10 But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands. 11 When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins. 12 I will give him the honors of a victorious soldier, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels. He bore the sins of many and interceded for rebels.

Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.

Matthew 3:8, Luke 3:8
Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ and to know that I belong to him. I could not make myself acceptable to God by obeying the Law of Moses. God accepted me simply because of my faith in Christ. All I want is to know Christ and the power that raised him to life. I want to suffer and die as he did, so that somehow I also may be raised to life. I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. I run toward the goal, so I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done. All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you. But we must keep going in the direction that we are now headed.
