We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; Hear a just cause, O LORD, give heed to my cry; Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips. The LORD is near all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. I pray to you, LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation. Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.
The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. The LORD is my light and my salvation--so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? I will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. On days when I am afraid, I put my trust in you. And I will feel secure, because there is hope; I will look around and take my rest in security. I will forget my misery; it will be like water flowing away.
