And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Today’s commentary

Though the world that we live in is dangerous and marred by sin, it is also good and beautiful. This is where the story of God begins and we can rob ourselves of some of God’s greatest gifts to us if we don’t celebrate the wonder of God’s world. This also becomes a mandate for us. We are not trying to get off of this earth, but we are called to participate with God in the restoration of all things, because the earth ultimately belongs to God. What began in the Garden of Eden is still our responsibility. How can you steward God’s blessing today?
