Sermon Title: "Fully Known: Embracing the God Who Knows You Completely"

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:12 (ESV)
"For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known."

Introduction

Have you ever felt misunderstood, lonely, or hidden—even from those closest to you? In a world where we curate our image on social media and hide our struggles, the Bible reveals a stunning truth: You are fully known by God. Not just superficially, not just your past, but your thoughts, fears, dreams, and secrets—nothing is hidden from Him (Psalm 139:1–4).

Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 13:12 remind us that while our knowledge of God is limited now, He already knows us completely. What does this mean for our lives?

1. God Knows You Fully—And Still Loves You

  • Psalm 139:1–6: David marvels that God searches his heart, knows his words before spoken, and surrounds him.

  • Jeremiah 1:5: God knew Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb.

  • Luke 12:7: Even the hairs on your head are numbered.

Application: You don’t have to perform for God’s love. He knows your flaws, sins, and doubts—yet He loves you unconditionally (Romans 5:8).

2. Being Fully Known Exposes Our Need for Grace

  • John 4: The Woman at the Well: Jesus revealed He knew her brokenness (five husbands, shame), yet He offered her living water.

  • Nathan & David (2 Samuel 12): God exposed David’s sin, not to condemn him but to restore him.

Application: God’s knowledge of us isn’t for shame but for redemption. Confession (1 John 1:9) brings freedom because we’re already fully known.

3. Fully Known, Fully Secure

  • Hebrews 4:13: "No creature is hidden from His sight."

  • Romans 8:27: The Spirit intercedes for us according to God’s will—because He knows us deeply.

Illustration: Like a child who rests peacefully because a parent watches over them, we can trust God’s care.

4. The Promise of Being Fully Known Forever

1 Corinthians 13:12 looks forward to eternity when we’ll know God as we are known. Now, we see dimly—but one day, face to face!

  • 1 John 3:2: "We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is."

  • Revelation 22:4: We will see God’s face—intimacy unbroken.

Application: Live in light of eternity. The One who knows you fully is preparing a place where you’ll know Him fully (John 14:3).

Conclusion: The Freedom of Being Known

You don’t have to hide. You’re fully known, fully loved, and fully secure in Christ. Respond:

  1. Worship: Like David, say, "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!" (Psalm 139:6).

  2. Repent: Bring your secrets to the Light—He already knows and offers grace.

  3. Rest: Trust that the God who knows you is working all things for good (Romans 8:28–30).

Closing Prayer:
"Lord, thank You for knowing me fully and loving me completely. Help me to live in the freedom of Your grace, until the day I see You face to face. Amen."

Key Takeaway: God’s complete knowledge of us is not a threat but a gift—leading us to repentance, security, and eternal hope.
